Last Day! Aaah!

Morning its..8:43 and I've just arrived, thought I'd quickly blog before things get crazy. I submitted my pre-loader for the Malibu sight (2 options of course) and Brendan loved the second option. They're using it on the sight! Wow! I'm so excited I can't believe it! It seems so silly but its just a taste and I definitely want more. I never thought a company would choose something I did at this time while studying. I'm so surprised and it only motivates me. Yay!! I can't wait to start work..this whole experience has been so amazing. I just wish it would never end.

Today I'm working on the Kelfords website. It consists of alot of pages (I might have mentioned) but its going really well. Its a completely different look to Malibu but the sleek feel of S Keren is definitely present. I think this project is definitely teaching me to be more adaptable with each look and feel. I've learnt or rather have been reminded of the importance of balance and good composition. Its so fantastic coming in with a skill, people really underestimate the value of a good skill.

I've moved out of the back offices into the studio (as I said) and I'm only just getting comfortable with people. The length of this internship wasn't too long as alot of people might have mentioned during discussions. My opinion is that the time is too short. I still feel like I have so much to learn and the work enviroment is very different. Your deadlines are far more challenging, you get stamped down if you're not good enough and if the client isn't happy, too bad! Start again.. Its a hectic career but I think this internship has only helped me confirm how happy I am to be studying design.

My attitude has also change, I think I was slightly arrogant when coming in (not too bad though:) I thought I knew alot more but have learnt to always be teachable and appreciate how far these designer have gotten in such a competitive industry. I really want to learn as much as possible and never pretend to know just rather to ask.

I'll try to blog a little later. Gotta get back to work...

another week! I can't wait to work.

9:16 am - This week has been another crazy one. Roxy's boss Carla is in France (she text saying she even met Lance Armstrong-even more motivation to aspire to design, maybe I'll get to go to France) I'm basically helping her with alot of work. Blogging has been so difficult but I'll do my utmost best to make up for it working on my last 2 days at navigate.
We've been working on a few sights. I mentioned Malibu, we've had to change the sight many times. I've been in charge of the poster design...the creative director still loves my designs and is going forward with the changes. It'll be wonderful for my portfolio.
S Keren email us with a whole load of new watches to cut out-a little boring but helps me practice a little deep-etching. A total of 91 watchs on top of the 200 + I mentioned earlier, cut out, styled and placed. Roxy has taught me a whole bunch of short cuts and tips when saving for web so I've learnt alot of tiny photoshop skills I never thought I would...
I've also worked on some Pre loaders and Introduction pages for Malibu, Brendan (the Creative Director) will have a look at my mock-ups today, I'm really hoping he loves them it would be fantastic for my portfolio..
I have a new website I'm working on now. Its for Kelfords Ford and Mazda in Somerset West. Carla really likes my design and hopefully it'll go live with elements or layouts for my portfolio.

I'm really loving it here. Since Carla has left for France we've moved into the studio with a whole lot of other graphic designers. I can't wait to post some photo's. The enviroment itself is incredibly inspiring. Someone even called me a junior designer the other day...wow! I really can't wait to start working. I only hope the company taking me on will be as fun as this one.

My first week at Navigate

My first week at Navigate in Stellenbosch was absolutely crazy busy. The work load was heavier than a big wooly sheep-and I would have probably preffered the sheep anyway.
Stellenbosch is quite the drive, leaving 7:30 in the morning and having to dress slightly posh for the office isn't easy for any girl-hmmm...9-5 was never my favourite scenario, but such is life as a web designer -sigh-can't wait for the huge salary of R 4000.00 to come my way. I can finally hit the high life of clothing and shop at Ackerman's for office wear.
The first week was all about a website for 'S Keren Watch Group'. The site has gone live with all 250 styling watches deep etched and styled by yours truly. Not exactly living the dream but everyone famous has to start somewhere.
The secound site we're working on is for Malibu rum. Its pretty hectic having to report to a creative director-no one beats around the bush in this industry, he even seems to make people cry, gotta watch the temper in this place. Its weird being 'just the intern'.

The people in the office are super friendly though- my desk overlooks a vineyard in Techno Park-wow! Really entices you to become one of the wino's boozing in Stellies after work-so professional.

In general loving it! Can't wait to start working! I'm also glad we get to stay for four weeks.
Today I'm soucing images for Malibu-gotta go look up parking lots and walls.

Keep you posted
